We strive to provide our members with a superior, personalized and customized Internet experience. To do so, C.W.I. gathers information through optional, voluntary registration about each of our members' geographic location, personal interests, and preferences, all the while ensuring the privacy protection of that information. We also collect navigational information, by using a feature of your browser called "cookies". Through our site's registration form, periodic online surveys and contests we ask you to voluntarily give us contact information such as your name and e-mail address, as well as demographic information (e.g. age, gender, income) and might also ask for financial information like account or credit card numbers, when necessary. Additional personalization features might in certain areas of the site enable you to further customize content areas or topics of specific interest to you. Our servers automatically collect information about which sites users visit and which pages are viewed within our sites, by using a feature of your browser called "cookie" which assigns a random number, or "User ID," to your browser. The cookie automatically identifies your computer, when you visit the site. We also use cookies placed by third party servers to target the advertising delivered to you. This practice is common in Internet advertising. We only identify the computer that is used to access the site. Use of information in general C.W.I. uses the information voluntarily given to us as a means to tailor parts of our service to your needs. Some of these personalized services are made available directly by us, while others are offered by our content partners. We also use the information in order to analyze and evaluate member preferences, comments, and suggestions of C.W.I.'s offerings in order to improve the present and future versions of our website. C.W.I. will never willfully disclose individually identifiable information about our members to any third party without first receiving that member's permission unless we believe in good faith that the law requires it, to protect the rights or property of C.W.I. Notwithstanding the above, however, C.W.I. may disclose individually identifiable information about it's members to any third party in connection with the transfer of substantially all of the business operations of C.W.I. (whether of asset sale, stock sale, merger or otherwise). Therefore we cannot guarantee, that your personal information or communications will remain private. To help our advertisers better understand our member's preferences and interests, C.W.I. creates summary or aggregate - but not individual - reports on a regular basis. (An example of the type of information provided in a summary report might be, "32,000 people clicked on Business 'X' in our business directory today and of those people, 85% of responses indicated that they are interested in the service offered by that business"). C.W.I.'s advertisers use this information to determine the effectiveness of their efforts. We never provide our advertisers with individually identifiable information about our members unless the member has given explicit permission for us to do so. Use of individual Information. Individually identifiable information provided to C.W.I. is used throughout the service to provide an experience that is tailored to the needs of our members. In certain cases this information will also be shared with C.W.I.'s content partners who provide content or enhanced services, but only if you have given permission. When information is given to a content partner to operate a service (i.e., chats or free e-mail service) that partner may have its own privacy policy that you should read and understand before submitting any of your personally identifiable information to be shared with that partner. C.W.I. retains no responsibility or liability for privacy policies of those entities. Companies that purchase advertising on C.W.I. may track your navigation to and from their sites and collect aggregate information about you when an ad is displayed or when you click on their ads. C.W.I. does not control this collection of information, nor do we monitor the use of this information once our advertisers obtain it. Additionally, C.W.I. does not control the information collection and distribution policies on sites outside of C.W.I. As part of our community-building features, C.W.I. will allow members to participate in various chat rooms and message boards. Please be aware that any information disclosed in a chat room or news group, or on a message board, becomes public information. Members should exercise serious caution when deciding to disclose individually identifiable information in one of these areas. Your personal privacy is important to us, however, C.W.I. cannot ensure the protection or security of information disclosed within these areas. If you choose to make a purchase through an online affiliate program (i.e. barnesandnoble.com) or service linked from C.W.I., be aware that the company operating the store will receive any information given, such as a credit card number or home address. These merchants have separate and distinct privacy and data collection practices. C.W.I. retains no responsibility or liability for the privacy policies of these online stores. To obtain more information about an individual vendor's policy on privacy, please visit their homepage and review their privacy statement before making a purchase decision. Opt-out policy C.W.I. gives users options wherever necessary and practical. Our policy on communications directed to our members is very clear: You can opt not to receive communication from C.W.I., such as our e-mail newsletters announcing contests, new features, or offerings from our content partners, when you first provide the information. If you originally opted in and would like to opt out, you will find instructions in each newsletter on how to unsubscribe to future communications of this type. If you have explicitly authorized C.W.I. to provide personally identifiable information to a third party, any request not to receive any communication from such third party should be directed to the third party site. Correction and Update-policy. We offer registered users choices regarding our use of your personal information. You can edit certain personal information you supplied to us by clicking on "Update Profile" after login in using your email address and password. You can also send email to the corporate@webster-investigations.com or call 1-650-342-9495 to have your personal information edited. If you delete personal information, it cannot be used by us or disclosed to third parties in the future. Personal information previously disclosed by us to third parties will be used according to such third parties' privacy policies. In addition, even if you delete or change some personal information in our registration database, it may remain in other databases (including those kept for archival purposes and by third parties. What are C.W.I.'s Data Security Procedures? We have taken industry-standard measures to ensure that your private communications and personal information is accessible only to select individuals with a "need to know" at C.W.I. Any sensitive information that is collected through our online-shopping form will be sent to us through encryption. All information is stored on a secured database and is accessible only after a password has been entered. However, please remember though that "absolute security" does not exist on the Internet. What is C.W.I.'s Policy Towards Children? C.W.I. has no intention of collecting any personally identifiable information from individuals under the age of eighteen years of age. Where appropriate, C.W.I. will specifically instruct children not to submit such information on our websites or advertisements. If a child has provided us with personally identifiable information, a parent or gaurdian of that child may contact us at the email address or address listed in this Privacy Statement if they would like this information deleted from our records. We will use reasonable efforts to delete the child's information from our databases.
